Languages Canada Announces New Accreditation Services Provider

 

September 1, 2010 - Ottawa, Ontario. Languages Canada is pleased to announce that Orion Assessment Services of Canada Inc. has been contracted to provide the Accreditation Services for the Languages Canada Quality Assurance Scheme.  Earlier this year, Languages Canada began the search for an independent and experienced provider of accreditation services charged with handling all aspects of accreditation.  The association is pleased to announce that, after careful deliberation, Orion Assessment Services was selected and will take over the accreditation function as of September 1, 2010.  Languages Canada will retain ownership of the Quality Assurance Scheme, ensuring that standards and specifications are set by the language training community. 

Languages Canada and ICEF become Global Partners

Languages Canada and  ICEF  are pleased to announce the signing of a Global Partnership Agreement.  Languages Canada is Canada's premier language training organization representing accredited French and English language programs, both public and private.

Five National Education Associations Establish the Canadian Consortium for International Education Marketing

 Ottawa, June 29, 2010 - As a signal of their commitment to attracting the best and brightest students to Canada, the presidents of five key national education associations signed a Memorandum of Understanding today establishing the Canadian Consortium for International Education Marketing.

 

BC TAKES THE LEAD IN INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE EDUCATION

VANCOUVER / OTTAWA- Languages Canada members are now recognized in British Columbia through access to the province's Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation.  A first in Canada, this recognition places BC in the lead in both attracting and protecting students.  Already a strong market for language studies with over 55,000 students per year, BC is demonstrating its commitment to supporting further market growth through an offering of quality programs and student protection.

Languages Canada Hosts Another Successful Annual Conference

 

"Better Together  - Connecting to Thrive in a Competitive World " was the theme of the 2010 Languages Canada conference which took place March 8-10, 2010 in St. John's, Newfoundland.  The conference highlighted the initiatives which help increase the recognition of the association and its members and create a greater awareness of quality English and French language training in Canada.

Highlights included presentations on the next steps in international marketing, a forum on working with Saudi Arabian students, a presentation by the Saudi Arabian Cultural Bureau, and great discussions on testing.  The overall feeling this year was one of optimism, and attendees took advantage of the Newfoundland traditions and hospitality.

With over 8,000 Saudi students in Canada during 2009 and plans to increase that number in 2010, Saudi Arabia has quickly become a significant market for Canada's language training sector.  A commitment to continue investing in scholarships destined to Canada for the next five years means that Canadian schools cannot ignore this opportunity.

Appointment of New Executive Director for Languages Canada

The Languages Canada Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Gonzalo Peralta as Executive Director.  Gonzalo, who will be based in the Ottawa area, brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the language industry.
