Languages Canada has been awarded a $256,000 grant from the CanExport – Associations Program (formerly known as Global Opportunities for Associations) in support of the association’s international business development efforts in 2019-2020.

The objectives of the CanExport – Associations Program is to increase Canadian prosperity, competitiveness, and capacity in the international marketplace.
Of the total CanExport – Associations funding, $100,000 is earmarked to directly offset Languages Canada member programs' costs of participation in international business development activities. These include:
- trade mission to Russia/Ukraine (Sept 30-Oct 4, 2019);
- French programs mission to China (Dec 2019);
- trade mission to Thailand/Vietnam (March 2020);
- exploratory mission to Iran; and,
- various international education events such as the FAUBAI Annual Conference in Belem, Brazil (April 2019) and the Conference of the Americas for International Education in Bogota, Colombia (Oct 2019).
CanExport-Associations funding will also allow Languages Canada to improve its research on international education market forces and trends, student flows, and competitors, to inform a new market diversification strategy.
In addition to the CanExport – Associations funding to members, Languages Canada can assist its private member programs to apply for supplemental funding to further offset the cost of participation in international business development activities.
