The primary concern of Languages Canada is the well-being and safety of its members and students. As you know, Novel Coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, was detected last month in the city of Wuhan in China. Last week, a first case was reported in Canada.
We know that this situation, and the media coverage it is receiving, can be alarming. However, it is important to note that to date, the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the public health risk associated 2019-nCoV as low for Canada and Canadian travelers.
We recommend that our members monitor the situation on the Public Health Agency of Canada website, where the latest updates and an FAQ including tips on following usual health precautions are available.
Travel advice for 2019-nCoV is available at travel.gc.ca. We also recommend that our members traveling abroad check travel advisories associated with their destination, and use the Registration of Canadians Abroad service, which allows the Government of Canada to notify you in case of an emergency abroad or a personal emergency at home.

As of January 29th, VFS Global has announced that, in light of the current Coronavirus alert, Canada Visa Application Centres across China will remain closed until February 3, 2020. However, the re-opening of the centres may change, subject to further notifications from central, provincial and city authorities. Please visit vsfglobal.ca for further updates.
Languages Canada will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as needed.
