Languages Canada reports on the success of its trade mission to Central Asia

ALMATY, February 5 - 7, 2018 - Languages Canada brought twelve members – representing universities, colleges, and private sector language programs – to Almaty, Kazakhstan to meet with 25 high-quality education agencies from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Trade Commissioner Frederic Laberge of the Embassy of Canada in Kazakhstan, joined for the entire event to network with members and agents; give a presentation about trends in the Kazakh market and to present the EduCanada brand.

A visa officer from the Moscow office presented  to the group via video conference on both days.   Agents and members many opportunities to ask questions on various topics.

The mission was a great success, with agents and members already reporting back that new relationships are already being established.  Maksim Kostiuchenko, an agent from Travel Works Almaty, said “I just wanted to thank you for organising such a great event. Among other massive workshops, it is vital to have a small, productive and family-like event with good personal contact. Thanks to your trade mission, we were able to organize together with Seneca College, Sheridan College and University of Guelph a number of events for high school students. The children are happy, the parents are enthusiastic, the educators are satisfied. Please do let me know in future if there is any regional project we could help you with. Thank you one more time[LA1] .”

With strong interest from the emerging markets in Central Asia, the association will continue to forge relationships with all the agencies that participated. Thank you to the Embassy of Canada in Kazakhstan, to GOA (Global Opportunities for Associations) for their support of the mission and to our diamond sponsor,, for making this event a reality.

Stay tuned for information about the upcoming missions to Chile in October 2018 and Turkey in January 2019.
