Megumi Akiyama
Embassy of Canada in Tokyo, Japan

As the Education Promotion Officer at the Embassy of Canada in Tokyo, Megumi Akiyama is responsible for the Embassy’s bi-annual EduCanada Fairs in the fall and spring. With the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games approaching, the Japanese government and private sector are placing great emphasis on developing global human resources. Canada is one of the most popular language study destinations for Japanese students; last year over 20,000 of them studied at one or more Languages Canada member schools. Recently, many Japanese junior and senior high schools, as well as post-secondary institutions, are looking for partner schools in Canada for short to long-term programs including summer and winter programs. Now is an ideal time to seek and cultivate Japanese partners. Megumi looks forward to meeting LC members at the conference!
