January 25, 2012...As recently reported in various media around the country, the federal government is getting out of the business of providing in-house language training to its employees. Generally speaking, about 40 per cent of all federal jobs are designated bilingual and the remaining 60 per cent are English or French essential. Fortunately, Languages Canada, a not-for-profit association, offers more than 170 accredited English and French language education programs, in both the public and private sectors across the country, with 76 member programs in Ontario and Quebec alone.

Ottawa, December 5, 2011 - Languages Canada and Scotiabank today announced a sponsorship agreement that will offer support to more than 130,000 international language education students studying in Canada each year with financial literacy webinars and advice on best practices for banking in Canada through the Scotiabank StartRight Program for Newcomers.
