New Affiliation Agreement to benefit international students registered in language programs in Quebec

Montreal, December 13, 2017 – Languages Canada, the national association representing accredited language programs across Canada, including Quebec, is proud to announce the signature of a new affiliation agreement with LaSalle College.

As per a policy established by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (formerly Citizenship and Immigration Canada) in 2014, an international student who applies for a Canadian study permit for a period of six months or more must prove that he or she will register at a designated learning institution (DLI). Contrary to all other provinces, the Government of Quebec has refused to recognize private language programs, even those accredited by Languages Canada. The affiliation agreement will allow private sector Languages Canada members based in Quebec to continue receiving international French and English language students with a study permit. This collaboration also allows Languages Canada to showcase to students the programs offered by LaSalle College.
