CIBT Completes Purchase of Assets of KGIC Inc.

Vancouver, March 30, 2017 - As you may be aware, there have been some substantial developments with the schools under KGIC Inc. (formerly known as the Loyalist Group).  You will find a link to the press release announcing the completion of the purchase of KGIC assets by CIBT Education Group Inc. The transaction closed on March 29, 2017.  We are pleased that Sprott Shaw Language College (SSLC) will assume the teach-out responsibilities of the students at PGIC, KGIC and SEC as well as honouring the commitments of the future students of Cornerstone Academic College which was closed by the Receiver on February 28th.  

Languages Canada signs agreement with the State of Paraná

Ottawa, March 21, 2017 - Languages Canada signed an agreement with the State of Parana in Curitiba, Brazil, whereby both sides declared their intent to cooperate to promote English language learning. The contracts include the commitment from both sides to collaborate on joint internationalization programs and to foster closer ties between Canadian and Brazilian students, educators, and institutions.

Assets of KGIC acquired by CIBT Education Group Inc.

Quebec, March 1, 2017 -- From February 26 to March 1, 2017, Languages Canada, held its 10th annual conference at the Fairmont Château Frontenac in beautiful Quebec City. Our conference provided the opportunity to come together to hear the voices of our valued member programs. It is a time when we review and reflect on the past year and plan for the future. Over 160 delegates, including LC member representatives, stakeholders, government officials, NGOs, and international education service providers attended the event. 

Cornerstone Language School Closure in Toronto

Ottawa, March 3, 2017– On February 28, 2017, the receiver in charge of Cornerstone Language School decided to end the school’s operations. Since the problem arose, Languages Canada, its members and employees have been hard at work to minimize any inconvenience that students may suffer.

Languages Canada celebrates success of Colombia trade mission

COLOMBIA, November 21-23, 2016 - Languages Canada brought 15 members – representing universities, colleges, and private sector language programs – to Bogotá, Colombia to meet with nearly 30 agencies representing Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama. At the opening reception, participating members had the opportunity to meet with Donald Bobiash, Ambassador of Canada to Colombia, as well as representatives from local universities and institutions who are involved in internationalization of language education. Members also had the option of joining a city tour following the official trade mission activities.

ACTFL in Boston: 18-20 November 2016

BOSTON, MA (USA) November 21, 2016 - Languages Canada, in cooperation with la Délégation du Québec à Boston, participated at the 2016 Annual Convention and World Languages Expo of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) from November 18 to 20.
