SANTIAGO, October 1 - 3, 2018 - Languages Canada brought sixteen members – representing universities, colleges, and private sector language programs – to Santiago, Chile to meet with over 30 high-quality education agencies from Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and Uruguay.
Participating members also had the opportunity to meet with the Ambassador of Canada to Chile, Patricia Peña, who co-hosted a reception at the official residence on Monday, October 1st. This reception, which had over 50 attendees, allowed Languages Canada members to network with representatives from Chilean government, the Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas (CRUCH), and some of the most prestigious local universities, high schools, and technical institutes.
The mission was very successful, with Languages Canada members already reporting that they have established new relationships with agents. Just two weeks after the mission, Gabriela Facchini of Sheridan College says that she has "already had agents contacting me with potential students and I have signed two agent agreements as a result of the mission." She also commented on the facilitation provided by the mission in reaching multiple tertiary markets within a single visit, saying “It would have been unrealistic and expensive to visit all tertiary markets so this was a good way to reach out by going to a single place.” Echoing that sentiment, Alejandra Ugarte of the English School of Canada said that the trade mission was "a great opportunity to get to know new market entry strategies, local agents and educational institutions to develop new projects."
This trade mission was made possible thanks to the support from the Embassy of Canada in Chile, Global Affairs Canada's Global Opportunities for Associations program, as well as the involvement of local agencies, CRUCH members and all of the Languages Canada members in attendance.
REGISTER NOW for the next Languages Canada trade mission, taking place January 29-31 in Istanbul, Turkey with agents from all over Turkey. The Turkey mission still has spots available. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to meet with agents from this huge market driving more and more students to Canada every year!
