Transfer of Membership

Languages Canada membership does not automatically transfer when a private sector member changes ownership. Purchasers must promptly notify Languages Canada and apply for a transfer under the Transfer of Membership Policy. This page provides the policy and outlines the process.

Transfer of Membership Policy

The Languages Canada Transfer of Membership Policy establishes the requirements and procedures for the transfer of membership following a change of ownership involving a private sector member.

Designed to ensure the continued integrity of the Languages Canada Quality Assurance Framework, the Policy outlines the eligibility criteria, application process, required documentation and disclosures, applicable fees, and the review and approval process.

Transfer of Membership Process

Notification and Application

The purchaser notifies Languages Canada within five business days of the change of ownership (at the latest) and submits the required documents, attestations, disclosures, and fees through the Transfer of Membership application form.

To help ensure a smooth transition, purchasers are encouraged to notify Languages Canada and submit their application as early as possible, including before the change of ownership takes place. Go to Transfer of Membership application form

Application Review and Approval

Languages Canada reviews the application and supporting documentation to determine whether all requirements have been met to proceed with the Transfer of Membership.

Transfer Accreditation Review

Within three to six months of approval, the independent accreditation body, Orion, conducts a review to verify continued compliance with applicable quality assurance requirements.

Recommendation

Orion submits its review report and recommendation to Languages Canada. Failure to successfully complete the Transfer Accreditation Review results in termination of accreditation and membership.
