COVID-19
Institutional Readiness Plans

Preparing and Submitting your Institution's COVID-19 Readiness Plan

The government of Canada has announced that Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) whose COVID-19 readiness plans have been approved by their provincial or territorial government will be able to welcome international students back to their schools as of October 20, 2020.

Provinces are required to provide the federal government with a list of DLIs whose readiness plans have been approved. These lists are to be published on IRCC’s web page for international students affected by COVID-19 restrictions and updated regularly as provinces and territories approve additional schools.

To help members prepare and submit their readiness plans, we have compiled on this page the requirements, guidance and templates for readiness plans issued by federal and provincial governments.

Alberta

Alberta health and education authorities have approved the Languages Canada Study Safe Corridor (SSC). As a result, DLIs may state their intention to use some or all elements of the SSC in their respective institutional readiness plans.

We have included below the basic plan template provided by the Alberta government as well as the completed template using SSC elements that was submitted for approval. Please also see LC's communication to Alberta members for important points based on Alberta Health's feedback.

Ontario

The Languages Canada Study Safe Corridor (SSC) has been reviewed and approved by Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU). As a result, DLIs may reference the SSC in their respective institutional readiness plans and attestations.

We have included below the basic Attestation template provided by the government of Ontario, as well as a version prepared by LC with a column added indicating the requirements that are met through the SSC.
